2010 Logo Summer Institute - Logo Foundation

The Logo Summer Institutes are intensive workshops with an emphasis on constructionist, project-based learning. Personally meaningful projects provide the context for learning about Logo and computers as well as about the subject matter involved in the project. The Institutes also serve as models of the teaching and learning environments that you might set up in your own home or school.

Immerse yourself in Logo learning and project building. Use MicroWorlds™, Scratch , and other Logo software environments. Design and build cybernetic devices of all kinds and control them using Logo programs. Use a variety of robotics systems from LEGO®, Gleason Research, Playful Invention Company and the MIT Media Lab.

Use Logo to explore mathematics, science, language, and music.
Design Logo environments for very young children.
Create games, animated stories, and multimedia presentations.
Work with simulations in physics, biology, ecology, economics, and other areas
Build and program machines such as scanners, robot arms, and conveyor belts that can sort bricks by color.
Design and build smart vehicles that seek light, follow a line, or avoid obstacles.
Use programmable bricks to collect data and communicate with each other.
Build your own sensors.

At this year's Institute we will use MicroWorlds EX and Scratch. Robotics hardware choices will include both the RCX, NXT and WeDo from LEGO, the GoGo Board, Pico Cricket and the Handy Cricket.
